HAILO Code of Conduct
The company HAILO-Werk Rudolf Loh GmbH & Co. KG and its affiliated subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as the "company") are committed to their social responsibility worldwide. In particular, the companies bear responsibility towards their own company, towards customers and suppliers in the value chain and towards the environment within the scope of their business activities.
The HAILO Code of Conduct is a voluntary code that is recommended to companies. By signing it, the member company commits to complying with the following principles.
I. General principles
Basic understanding
The company recognises its social responsibility and undertakes to live up to this responsibility in all its business activities.
Law and order
The company undertakes to comply with the applicable laws and other relevant regulations of the countries in which it operates in all its business activities and decisions. Business partners are to be treated fairly. Contracts are honoured, taking into account changes in the framework conditions. The company complies with applicable laws that protect and promote competition, in particular the applicable antitrust laws and other laws regulating competition.
Values and principles
The company bases its actions on Christian and universally recognised ethical values and principles, in particular integrity, honesty, respect for human dignity, openness and non-discrimination of religion, ideology, gender and ethics. The company rejects corruption and bribery in accordance with the corresponding UN Convention (from 2005). It promotes transparency, acting with integrity and responsible management and control within the company in an appropriate manner.
II. Principles of corporate and social responsibility
Human rights
The company respects and supports compliance with internationally recognised human rights. In particular, it observes human rights in accordance with the UN Human Rights Charter (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, General Assembly Resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948).
Prohibition of discrimination
The company rejects any form of discrimination within the framework of the applicable rights and laws. This refers in particular to discrimination against employees on the basis of race, ethnic origin and gender.
Occupational health and safety
The company ensures occupational health and safety in the workplace in accordance with national regulations. In order to prevent accidents and personal injury, employers provide safe and healthy working conditions that fulfil the applicable legal requirements as minimum criteria. The company supports continuous development to improve the working environment.
Working hours
The company complies with labour standards regarding maximum permitted working hours and remuneration, in particular with regard to remuneration levels, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Remuneration
Remuneration, including wages, overtime and fringe benefits, shall be at least at or above the level specified in applicable laws and regulations.
Harassment
Employees will not be subjected to corporal punishment or any other physical, sexual, psychological or verbal harassment or abuse.
Child labour and forced labour
The company does not accept any form of forced or child labour. If forced or child labour is detected in direct or indirect connection, e.g. at a supplier, this must be reported and the grievance remedied.
Transparency and consumer dialogue
The company recognises the right of consumers to important product and process information that is required for an informed purchasing decision. Where possible, it will define the relevant information and make it publicly available.
Corporate citizenship
The company promotes civic engagement by making positive contributions to the communities in which it operates. At the same time, it expressly supports the voluntary commitment of its managers and employees.
Environment
The company is committed to protecting the natural environment for present and future generations. The company uses environmentally friendly practices that it is continuously improving. It fulfils the regulations and standards for environmental protection that affect its operations and uses natural resources responsibly.
Communication
The company communicates openly and in a dialogue-oriented manner about the requirements of this Code of Conduct and its implementation to employees, customers, suppliers and other interest and stakeholder groups.
III. Principles of fair competition
Prohibition of corruption
When dealing with business partners and government institutions, the interests of the company and the private interests of employees on both sides are strictly separated. Decisions are made free of extraneous considerations and personal interests. The applicable criminal law on corruption must be observed. Among other things, the following must be observed:
The company's management and employees may not offer, promise, demand, grant or accept any gifts, payments, invitations or services in business dealings that are granted with the intention of unfairly influencing a business relationship or where there is a risk of jeopardising the professional independence of the business partner. This is generally not the case with gifts and invitations that are within the scope of customary business hospitality, custom and courtesy.
IV. Scope of application, implementation, supplier
Scope of application
This Code of Conduct applies to all branches and business units of HAILO-Werk Rudolf Loh GmbH & Co.KG.
Implementation and compliance
The company shall make its employees aware of the content of this Code of Conduct and the obligations arising from it. It shall take appropriate measures to ensure that the Code of Conduct is complied with.
Suppliers
The company ensures that its direct suppliers are aware of the principles of this Code of Conduct and demands that its suppliers comply with its contents.
