Eighty years of kitchen and utility room innovations HAILO will be showing new solutions as well as proven bestsellers at the SICAM

An ergonomic set-up, a clever use of space and a more effortless way to perform everyday chores: the fitted kitchen is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. What began in 1926 with the so-called Frankfurt Kitchen as a thoroughly well-thought-out workspace designed by the architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky still defines the planning of a modern kitchen to this day. And for by now almost 80 years, one company has stood for solutions that have made it possible to implement her ideas: ever since the establishment of HAILO Built-in Technology in 1947, the company's goal has always been to make everyday life and household chores easier, safer and more effortless. In the early 1950s, its founder Rudolf Loh expressed it like this: "We want to meet genuine needs and solve genuine problems in the home, especially in the world's most frequently used workspace: the kitchen." This credo still drives HAILO today: continuous improvement and the ongoing development of suitable solutions for kitchen problems that meet people's needs.
At the SICAM 2026, the company with the red dot will be exhibiting new product solutions for the planning of contemporary kitchens. The focus is on topics that are of equal interest to planners, retailers and the industry: better space utilisation, user-friendly operation, efficient recycling sorting and better utility room organisation.

Taking recycling sorting one step further

HAILO has come up with a practical addition to its waste sorting system: the HAILO Recycling Cabinet. The new solution combines pull-out bins with a clever tilting mechanism that makes it possible to neatly collect recyclables and to store them in an easily accessible way in kitchens or utility rooms. HAILO is thereby promoting an increasingly important kitchen design trend: the sorting of waste and recycling is no longer viewed merely as a helpful feature but rather as an integral element of a well-organised storage concept. Everything should be easily accessible, intuitive to use and visually well-integrated.

Tidier laundry area

The utility room is also becoming an increasingly important aspect of modern home and kitchen concepts. It should not only be functional but also simplify processes and make the most efficient use of the available space. HAILO will therefore be showing new solutions for the laundry area that include various laundry bins and baskets in a range of sizes.

Handleless design comfort feature

Another key modern furniture and kitchen design element is "push-to-open". HAILO is thereby taking the desire for sleek fronts, a reduced look and comfortable operation on board. Easily accessible pull-out elements and intuitive opening mechanisms are especially important in frequently used storage areas. The new laundry solutions are also designed to meet these requirements and are compatible with the push-to-open mechanism as well as the Libero 3.0 electronic door opener.

Kitchen in transition

Over the past 100 years, many aspects of the fitted kitchen concept have been developed further. These days, open-plan designs that can be used more flexibly are more popular than an enclosed workspace. HAILO's SICAM exhibition stand impressively demonstrates that the development of kitchen comfort features is driven by contemporary needs: the focus is increasingly shifting from mere storage to well-thought-out functional areas that make everyday life easier. Whether they're about sorting recyclables, organising laundry or comfortable operation – these new solutions address precisely the area where modern kitchen and furniture designs are expected to deliver added value: day-to-day use.

In its anniversary year 2027, HAILO will therefore launch another milestone product: the HAILO Fusio, a comprehensive concept that makes the workflow around and inside the sink base unit smooth and hassle-free.
