Economic success and social co-operation go hand in hand - at least that's how HAILO in Haiger sees it.

The family-run company with the red dot, which has been providing safety and convenience in households and businesses with its products for 77 years, has always had its employees in mind - and continues this tradition today: ‘People-orientated, sustainable corporate development is at the heart of everything we do,’ says Managing Director Jörg Lindemann. ‘This sustainable corporate philosophy began under company founder Rudolf Loh and is now being continued by the third generation, i.e. Sebastian Loh.’

A strong manifestation of this approach is the Hailo-Werk Rudolf Loh GmbH & Co. KG in Haiger e.V., which can look back on a history almost as long as the company itself. Established in 1951 by company founder Rudolf Loh, the association has been making voluntary payments to Hailo-Werk employees for over 70 years.

Around 450,000 euros have been paid out since 2014

‘Life occasionally presents us with special challenges, be it through personal decisions or unforeseen circumstances,’ says Lisa Kempf, Chair of the Works Council at HAILO, who is also a member of the association's Board of Directors. ‘If our employees find themselves in a situation where they need support, we don't leave them to deal with it alone.’ There may be exceptional scenarios such as prolonged illness or other personal emergencies in which employees can receive support from the organisation. But life events such as the birth of a child, weddings or deaths are also included. Families with three or more dependent children have also received special support in the form of child benefit since 2008: They receive a monthly amount of 60 euros per child. ‘We are aware of our social responsibility within our own company, in the region and beyond,’ says Jörg Lindemann. ‘And we also realise that people work to live, not the other way around. That's why we not only offer the best possible working conditions, but are also there when our employees face particular challenges.’ Over the last ten years, the association has supported employees with around 450,000 euros. An impressive amount - and just one of the many small building blocks that make up HAILO's social commitment.
