Shaft ladders
Depending on the structural circumstances, it is not always possible to equip shafts or similar structures with stairs. Shaft ladders are therefore often used to ensure safe access into a shaft. These are fixed ladders that are also attached to facades in a similar form. In contrast to other solutions such as scaffolding or climbing irons, these fixed ladders are easy to install, more durable and therefore often cheaper. Thanks to their non-slip rungs and other elements such as fall protection or access aids, they also offer the best possible safety when descending or ascending. The choice of materials depends on the type of application and the area of use of the shaft ladders.
Shaft ladders from HAILO Professional
Our shaft ladders meet the highest quality requirements and are tested in accordance with current European guidelines. They consist of two stiles and non-slip rungs. You can choose between stainless steel, glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) or hot-dip galvanized or passivated (corrosion-resistant) steel.

Shaft ladders with stainless steel stiles and rungs for use with water
Stainless steel is recommended and sometimes even mandatory for work in environments with high humidity or water. The great advantage is that stainless steel is characterized by a very long service life even under adverse conditions. Shaft ladders made of steel from HAILO Professional can be purchased with stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304 or stainless steel 1.4571 / AISI 316 ti.

Hot-dip galvanized steel as the simplest solution for ladders and rungs
Ladders made of hot-dip galvanized steel are always used where there are no open water channels, such as in pump shafts or inspection chambers. Galvanized ladders are the most cost-effective option for access technology. In hot-dip galvanizing, zinc is applied to the outside of the steel to prevent corrosion. This layer is removed more quickly than the nickel-chromium layer on stainless steel, but also offers good protection against corrosion.

Ladders made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic for use in areas with gas development
In conditions where there is a risk of explosion, ladders made of stainless steel or steel must not be used. You must use ladders made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) for this purpose. This is because sparks can occur when working with the steel versions if the ladders come into contact with the surrounding material, which greatly increases the risk of explosions with this material. With GRP fixed ladders, however, there is no risk of sparks.

Technical data of the shaft ladders
HAILO shaft ladders are available in three material variations with up to 15 rungs and therefore with a (partly adjustable) length of 0.56 to 4.20 meters. The products are equipped across the entire width with tread and slip-resistant perforated rungs in a U-profile with a clear width (LW = the size of the opening) of 300 mm or 400 mm. The distance between the perforated rungs is 280 mm in length for both versions of the clear width.
In addition to the shaft ladders, we also offer the right accessories, from bolt anchors, climbing protection rails and access aids to wall brackets. With our ladder systems, we always focus on the highest quality of our products, which naturally comply with the current DIN EN standards.
