Training professions

Choosing the right training is crucial for a successful start in your professional life. Here you can find detailed information about the various vocational training courses that HAILO offers.

For those who can, starting their professional life with a commercial apprenticeship ensures a broad basis of knowledge from the very beginning. During training, you get to know every area of a company from purchasing raw materials and other parts needed for production as well as marketing and sales. You’ll also gain experience in disciplines such as accounting, order processing and human resources. This multidisciplinary approach to education allows you to gain a broad understanding of how the departments at HAILO function and interact.

During training, it will quickly become clear where your strengths and passions lie and which area is the most fun for you to work in. In addition to the practical training within the company, you’ll also gain theory-based knowledge at the commercial vocational school in Dillenburg.

Deine Ausbildung bei HAILO

HAILO has received multiple awards from the federal Chamber of Industry and Commerce for its achievements as a company offering professional training. Since the 1950s, qualified training has been a priority here at HAILO. The awards are a recognition of the consistently high quality of the training, our expert supervision, the level of commitment of the trainers and the prospective promotions and development within the company.

Around 10% of our employees are in training or extra-occupational studies. Over the last 10 years, our take-over rate after training has been 85%. These figures from the past are evidence of the excellent career prospects we offer in this company.

The key is our provision of practical training. Our trainees go through the individual departments and specialist areas in a three-month rhythm and learn by experiencing the daily business hands-on. A specialist trainer is always on-site, ensuring daily supervision and implementation of training contents and guidelines. Each year, we hold eight structured assessment interviews with each trainee in order to document personal and professional development within the company.

Our training programme also includes firm-owned instruction, which takes place twice a month. Even the owner and manager are involved at this event.

Additionally, we reward excellent performance with the "Trainee of the Year" award, in combination with an attractive financial incentive.

The following are important prerequisites for successful cooperation and the achievement of goals. One must be able to rely on the fact that the assigned tasks are carried out accordingly - even without constant supervision.

Willingness to learn and perform

This is the very basis for a successful education. Work isn’t a necessary evil, but rather an important element of one's life. Curiosity and the desire to learn new things, joy at work and success in one's profession contribute to a positive attitude towards life, as well as individual satisfaction.

Endurance - stamina - resilience

These are important skills to cope with failure. At school and work, not everything always goes smoothly. But you must be able to cope with stress and disappointments. It’s not only success that builds up self-confidence.

Care - Conscientiousness

The tasks and activities in the company require accuracy and seriousness. Carelessness can cause great damage to people and the company.

Ability to concentrate

There is no performance without focus. It's so easy to be distracted. But it’s also necessary to concentrate on one thing. You have to be willing and able to do that. Both can be adopted through training with success.

Taking responsibility - independence

Experience provides security for independent thinking and acting. The willingness to take on responsibility grows with increasing maturity. However, some sense of both must already be in place by the time you start your training.

Ability for criticism and self-criticism

Those who can take criticism are able to, for example, distinguish important from unimportant occurrences relatively quickly. They can tell from the matter at hand whether something is to be approved or rejected. Just as important is the ability to critically question one's actions in order to be aware of the possibility of making mistakes but being willing to acknowledge and correct them.

Creativity and flexibility

Succeeding in a company requires everyone to think independently. Suggestions for improvement help to optimise daily tasks or the organisation of the own workplace. If you are creative and flexible, you can get used to new tasks more easily and quickly.

Willingness to cooperate - the ability to work in a team

Success of a company always depends on the willingness of employees to cooperate. Every employee is encouraged to exchange information, share experiences and support each other.

Ability to manage conflict situations

Varying opinions and views may lead to conflict. However, they should be dealt with peacefully and constructively. We require the ability to argue, as well as the ability to deal with personal annoyance and contradictions.

Tolerance

Being open means that it’s important to accept opinions and views that differ from one's attitude.

Politeness - Friendliness

If you are friendly, you will succeed more quickly and easily. This applies to the company's external relations (e. g. customers, suppliers, public) as well as to a positive working atmosphere within the team.

Since the early ‘50s, roughly 300 technical trainees have been prepared for their successful career start in our training workshop. The different apprenticeship options show the professional diversity and technical development of the company: Toolmaker, shop fitter, lathe operator, energy electronics technician, technical product designer, sheet metal worker, parts finisher, and production mechanic. The current focus of our technical training is on the vocations of production mechanics and technical product designers.

Basic training in the training workshop

At the start of the apprenticeship, all technical apprentices complete the "basic metalworking course". The apprentices learn necessary skills and knowledge such as scribing, filing, drilling, turning, milling, bending, welding, and soldering, in order to produce and process metal workpieces according to technical drawings. These qualifications are learned and practised through the production of exemplary pieces under the guidance of a technical instructor. Basic training lasts six months.

Technical training (using the example of production mechanics)

Basic training is followed by a specialist training in various technical departments. The apprentices alternate departments in a three-month rhythm. On-site support is provided by the respective technical trainers in the departments: Maintenance/Service, Fixture Construction, Development Workshop, Quality Control, Turning Shop, Milling Shop, and Service Tools. Specialist training lasts for 18 months.

The third training stage

In the third training phase, the prospective production mechanics are instructed and trained in and on the machines of our production departments. They are supervised by a machine/equipment operator. The tasks are: Operating or controlling the plant or machine for manufacturing our products, testing the manufactured products, maintenance, servicing, and conversion. After 12 months, the final theory examination (at the vocational school) and practical (on our machines/plants) takes place.

Additional contents of technical vocational training
